East Lansing Shape Note Singing, bi-monthly
Edgewood United Church (469 North Hagadorn Road East Lansing, MI)

Contact: 517.381.1321 singing@fasolamichigan.org

We sing for our enjoyment, not for performance, in a non-worship setting, from "The Sacred harp," a shape-note hymnal first published in 1844, that has shaped notes to help singers sightread. No experience necessary, we learn as we go. We continue a tradition started in the early 19th century, which was featured in the film "Cold Mountain," featuring powerful harmonies, each part having its own melodic harmony.
